“Yoga is not about self-improvement. It is about self-acceptance.” - Gurmukhi Kaur Khalsa
It is true that we find yoga out of a great need. In Rachel’s case, that great need arose in 2005 after a serious knee injury while attending college as a dance major. This dark moment in her life lead her to one of her greatest passions and life’s dharma; To teach yoga asana and become a lifelong dedicated student in the study of the eight limbs of yoga. Though her dharma is ever-evolving, it has grown to encompass the teaching of functional mobility, the inclusion of accessible asana for ALL BODIES and abilities, and the sincere desire to help her students to witness themselves as they truly are; complete and beautiful sentient beings. The eight limbs of yoga have allowed Rachel to find harmony, peace and balance in her life. Which, she greatly desires to share with you.
She has studied and taught many different forms of movement throughout her life including various styles of dance (ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, African, and contact improve), Pilates, and Yoga Asana (Ashtanga, Iyengar, Bikram, Hatha, Pre-natal, children’s yoga, Restorative, Power, and Vinyasa). She draws on this knowledge to inform her teaching style. Rachel also holds a B.S in Elementary Education and Early Childhood development.
Rachel Completed her 200 hr. Vinyasa yoga certification and training at Rasa Yoga Center in Medford, and Ashland, OR. in June 2016 under the guidance of Sarah Sol, Krista Holland, and Jaimie Elmer. In addition to this she has had the blessing of continuing her education with such prevalent teachers as Max Strom, Desiree Rumbaugh, and Djuna Mascall. She looks forward to continuing her education throughout her lifetime and believes the best teachers are dedicated students.
Rachel is authentic, compassionate, humble and non-judgmental. Her goal is to make yoga accessible and challenging while bringing greater awareness to the spirit, energetic and physical body, and mind. She cares deeply about holding and creating space for her students practice and dedicates her time to developing safe, creative, and satisfying classes that honor the lineage of yoga and cultivate and inspire personal awareness and inner peace. Her sincere desire is that each of her students find the essence of themselves that is Sat Chit Ananda; Truth, Consciousness and Bliss, through the practice of yoga.
When she is not obsessing over all things yoga, Rachel enjoys dancing, painting, singing, cooking, camping, hiking, adventuring, and most of all spending time with her beloved husband, three children and dog.
